I’m currently in the process of moving from Houston to Chicago and got 41 mpg on the first leg of the trip! Not too bad for only my third tank in the Mazda 6. The uhaul on the other hand got a still impressive 8.5 mpgs. Here’s a recent picture of it becuase it is gorgeous.

Oh, I’M SORRY!! Is Houston not to your liking?! Are our mosquitos too big? Our diversity too much? Our museums too plentiful? Our Tex-Mex too delicious?! WHAT IS IT?! HUH?! WHY ARE YOU MOVING FROM HOUSTON TO DIRTY CHIRAQ?!?!?!?!?!!?11!?1

Telling every Mazda dealer I see to start bringing the 6 wagon.

I’ve lived in Houston my whole life, but a job is taking me away. I may be back in a year though so I’m seeing it as a year vacation where I happen to work during the week.

Oh, cool, congrats.

Also, their winter is inversely worse than our summer.

Thanks. This will be my first real winter experience. I am both terrified and excited.

Winter isn’t so bad. Instead of picking one article of clothing to wear at a time, you get to wear all articles of clothing all the time! You can also slide down hills on a pair of something resembling 2x4s. It’s more fun than it sounds.

Since you aren’t used to real winters, I strongly suggest yoh purchase a set of snow tires. And if you don’t want to dirty up your Zoom-Zoom with road salt, get a cheap beater. Lastly if you’ve never walked amongst the skyscrapers, pussyfooting around a building’s corner will instantly put you on your ass.

...and no, that’s not why it’s called the “Windy City” — windbag and corrupt politicians are why.

Welcome to my neck of the woods! Where in Chicagoland are you moving to?

I’m looking into getting a beater and if not winter tires will be purchased.

That’s a nice area. The best man in my wedding lives just south of there (near Addison Brown Line stop. You’ll see it first time heading into the Loop).

...actually, get winter tires for the beater, too! you can always sell them separately after the winter.

Amazing picture! I have seen 36.1 on a tank before but that's the highest so far for mine.

Thanks! Was that for all highway or mixed? My first two tanks were both 36.6 and I’ve noticed the on board computer is not optimistic as I’ve seen with others. Mine actually read less than actual milage for two of my tanks

Mostly highway. Some city. My average daily driving is ALL stop and go city, though. Lifetime average with the car since I got it in October is 28.

Me too. It was 65 in February the day I flew in for the interview which was the same temperature as Houston
